The recent Green Paper on the right to family reunification, focuses on a series of question sall derived from the application of Directive2003/86/EC, and it invited all interested parties to respond to the 1st of March 2012 at any of the 14issues raised in relation to family reunification of third-country nationals legally residing in the European Union. This initiative has impulse a public debate on the issue of family reunification in order to determine whether it is necessary or not, more concrete tracing of this policy. In this context, the Green Paper adopted today aims to collect the views of stakeholders and Member States on a number of questions raised in this area so that their contributions pose a clearer understanding oft he reality of family reunification in their countries, besides being able to achieve an improvement which can ensure more effective implementation of family reunification regime at European Union. However, any possible method of monitoring is to be the subject of a thorough assessment of their impact on fundamental rights, including respect for private and family life, the right to marry, children's rights and the principle of non discrimination.
