Spanish-Moroccan counter-terrorism mechanisms and initiatives

In the framework of antiterrorist cooperation both security cooperation and judicial cooperation are a basic pillar for, as reflected in the EU Strategy against Terrorism, prevent, protect, pursue and respond to terrorist threats. The aim of this paper is to analyze the instruments and mechanisms of the Spanish-Moroccan antiterrorism cooperation. First of all, after exposing the actors of cooperation in security are explained the basic instruments of police cooperation such as liaison officers or joint operations. Secondly, there are highlighted relevant mechanisms of the judicial Spanish-Moroccan cooperation such as liaison magistrates or the bilateral agreements. Both police and judicial activities are the core basis of the progress of the bilateral anti-terrorism cooperation and of the extraordinary results achieved in recent years.
