This paper addresses the implementation of milk quota system in Europe and Spain and the attainment of its extinction for Spanish cowmen. For that, are presented the most characteristic features of the dairy global market and impact of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), and its continuous reforms, at sector. Statements of community institutions are raised and some challenges and opportunities for the dairy sector on the global market are listed after ending milk quota system last March 31st of 2015. It concludes with a list of proposals and conclusions.
