Abstract

This article takes an in-depth look at the strategic relationship between the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) in the context of international security. It explores how this relationship has evolved over time and how it functions today. The article highlights the main areas in which the two organisations work together and the main mechanisms, both formal and informal. It also identifies obstacles to closer cooperation, including political differences and budgetary constraints. It also examines possible factors that could determine the future evolution of this relationship, such as changes in political leadership and in the global geopolitical landscape. Finally, it underlines the importance of strengthening EU-NATO cooperation to effectively address global security challenges. This analysis provides a bird’s eye view of the dynamics between the two organisations and their crucial role in the international security architecture.
