This paper aims to reclaim the concept of global citizenship from the revised “1974 Recommendation” concerning education for international understanding, cooperation, peace, and education relating to human rights and fundamental freedoms, updated in 2022 by the United Nations. It positions global citizenship as a transcultural actor in confronting misinformative globalization, in dialogue with the principles of sustainable communication and the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Using descriptive and analytical methods, the study reviews the report Fulfilling the Promise of Globalization: Advancing Sustainable Development in an Interconnected World and the Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, adopted in November 2021 by the Member States of the UNESCO General Conference. These sources are used to develop a proposal for sustainable Aimediated communication as an ethical practice and a common good in the face of misinformative globalization. The study concludes that global citizenship emerges as a key actor in resisting misinformative globalization, where the transcultural approach becomes essential to counteract the dynamics of cultural polarization that fuel the spread of hate speech and misinformation.
